Post-conference workshop
Automated coding and crosswalk of occupation: latest development and future possibilities
Date and time: August 27th, 1400-1600 (tentative)
Location: Room will be announced at a later date, EPICOH 2026, Stockholm
In occupational health research, occupation information is typically collected via questionnaires, surveys, or interviews, then processed into different international or national classification systems (e.g. ISCO-08) prior to exposure assessment and health analysis. Many occupational exposure assessment tools, such as job-exposure matrices (JEMs), also estimate exposure based on specific versions of job classifications.
Despite the development and availability of multiple automatic coding and code crosswalk tools for different languages and coding systems, job coding and crosswalk remain a challenge for many occupational health projects, cohorts, and researchers. Job codes are sometimes still assigned or cross walked manually, which is labor intensive, error prone, and expensive. In this workshop organized by the International Partnership on Automatic Job Coding (IPAJC), developers of different automated job (and industry) coding and crosswalk tools will showcase their tools’ latest development and share their experience in building workflows and tools for automatic coding.
Discussion will include how recent advances in language models may help with job coding securely and reliably.
Limited number of spots. Participation is free of charge however, please note, if you register and do not participate a penalty of SEK 200 will be charged. Registration via the registration form.
