Guided tour ”Stockholm during the industrialisation”
We are pleased to offer two dates (same tour)
Tuesday 25 August at 18:30
Thursday 27 August at 18:30

Discover the innovations that followed one another at a breathtaking pace and transformed everyday life for Stockholm’s residents.

Industrialisation took off in Stockholm during the second half of the nineteenth century. It became one of the city’s most dynamic periods of growth, as the railway was built and steamships began operating. Street lighting and sewer systems were introduced, and in less than eighty years the population more than doubled.

Our walk takes us through the area around Mosebacke torg, where many of the era’s pioneering projects were built, including the Katarina Lift, the fire station and the water tower. We then continue to the Blockmakarens hus, where Gustav Andersson and his family lived in the early twentieth century. The widow Emilia Gustavsson rented the ground-floor apartment facing the courtyard, where she lived with her five children. Today, the house has been carefully restored to reflect how it looked at the time.

Meeting point: Mosebacke torg, next to the statue “Systrarna”
Duration: approx. 1,5 h

Cost: SEK 200 incl. VAT.

Limited number of spots. Please note the tour can be cancelled due to lack of participants. Registration via the registration form.
