Sustainable travel
Before you book you travel, please consider if you can choose a more sustainable transport e.g. train instead of plane, bus/train/underground instead of taxi etc.
Airports
Stockholm has four airports: Arlanda (ARN), Bromma (BMA), Skavsta (NYO) and Västerås (VST).
The main airport is Arlanda with most international flights and best shuttle services; Bromma is closest to the city but has only a few international destinations (one is Brussels). Västerås and Skavsta are the two other international airports, both located about 100 km from Stockholm and mainly cater low-budget airlines. Travel time from Västerås and Skavsta is about 1,5 to 2 hours.
Travel from Västerås, Skavsta and Bromma to Stockholm
Flygbussarna Airport Coaches operates also the three minor airports and runs to Stockholm City terminal/Central station.
Travel time for airport coaches:
Skavsta or Västerås to Stockholm C: 80 min
Bromma to Stockholm C: 20 min
Regional trains are also available, with a travel time of around 2 hours. Check options at the websites.

Travel options from Arlanda airport
Arlanda Express – high-speed train to and from Stockholm
The Arlanda Express runs non stop between Stockholm and Arlanda in 20 minutes. If you are travelling from Arlanda to Stockholm, you can buy your ticket at the airport’s information desks or in the Arlanda Express self-service machines located next to the escalators/lifts leading down. Local transportation in Stockholm
Please find information about transportation between Stockholm city centre and the conference venue below.
An alternative to Arlanda Express is to take the commuter train at Arlanda Central Station. The fee can be paid at the entrance to the station at the airport. The train leaves every 30 minutes and the travel takes 36 min.
Station Stockholm Odenplan is closest to the conference venue. Exit Dalagatan/Vanadisvägen. From there it is about 15 min walk to the conference venue.
Flygbussarna – Airport Coaches
Flygbussarna airport coaches between Arlanda Airport and Stockholm city center run every ten minutes during most of the day. The route towards end stop Liljeholmen has a bus stop right outside of the conference venue, Karolinska Institutet.
The route with end stop Cityterminalen/Stockholm Central station also stops at S:t Eriksplan, closer to the Elite Palace Hotel.
Tickets for Flygbussarna can be purchased through automated machines in the terminals and at the bus stops, e-tickets via Flygbussarna airport coaches website, and on board the bus (only card payment accepted).

Taxi
Taxis are available directly outside of all terminals at Arlanda airport. Always ask the driver for a fixed price beforehand. The price between the airport and Stockholm is approx. 700-750 SEK. We recommend the following companies: Taxi Stockholm, Taxi Kurir, or Sverigetaxi.

Metro/ underground
Website for local travel is sl.se. Local name for metro / underground is “Tunnelbana”, and the letter T marks the stations.
Tickets
Please note that all local travel is cash free, and that you can’t purchase tickets on-board any buses or trains. We strongly recommend you download the app called SL Journey planner in advance of your trip to Stockholm. Using the app, you check time tables and buy tickets for the metro and buses within Stockholm.

From the metro station T-Centralen, located just below Stockholm Central Station, you can take trains 17, 18, and 19 to St. Eriksplan. Change to bus no. 3 (towards Karolinska sjukhuset), 6 (towards Karolinska Institutet), 5 (towards Karolinska sjukhuset), or take a 10-15 minute walk.
Bus no. 53 runs between central Stockholm via Odenplan and Karolinska Institutet Västra.


Bus
Several bus routes connect central Stockholm with Karolinska Institutet Campus Solna.
From St Eriksplan, take bus 3 or 5 towards Karolinska sjukhuset norra, or bus 6 towards Karolinska Institutet Biomedicum.
From Odenplan, take bus 6 towards Karolinska Institutet Biomedicum, bus 72 towards Karolinska sjukhuset norra, or bus 507 towards Västra skogen or Tomteboda postterminal.
Get off at Karolinska Institutet Biomedicum, the closest bus stop to Aula Medica.
Bus 53 also runs from central Stockholm via Centralen and Odenplan to Karolinska Institutet Västra, located on the western side of the KI campus.

Tickets
Please note that you cannot purchase tickets on-board any buses or trains. We strongly recommend you download the app called SL Reseplanerare in advance of your trip to Stockholm. Using the app, you check time tables and buy tickets for the metro and buses within Stockholm.
